Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of First Baptist Church is our mission to the world. The mission field begins here in our community and stretches all over the world.  There are a variety of ministries in which you can serve from things as simple as greeting our visitors, to driving the van. Some of these areas to serve do require you to have attended our church for a period of time and other areas, such as working with kids also requires a clean background check.

Mission Outreach

Our Missions department has several opportunities in which you can serve.

  • The Womens Missionary Union (WMU) meets on the second Monday of each month at 2:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
  • Our Missions Committee prays, researches locations, and plans a mission trip once a year.
  • First Baptist Church gives 7% of it’s tithes and offerings to the
Cooperative Program.  This money goes to help Missouri Baptist Convention Causes as well as the Southern Baptist International Mission Board and North American Mission Board.  This program also helps fund Southern Baptist colleges and seminaries.  For information about the Missouri Baptist Convention click on www.mobaptist.org .

Music Department

Our services at First Baptist Church include a time of worshiping and praising God through music.  As God has created each of us to be equal, He has also created each of us to be individuals.  Our desire is to use a blend of music styles so that every individual may worship God in an enjoyable manner.   We are truly blessed to have our members play an instrument, sing a vocal special, or join in with our choir.   These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Christ, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Ushers/Door Greeters **

The team of ushers and door greeters fill an important role in ministry. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction,  and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The team is a servant-hearted group of men, women, and youth whose ministry is important to the Kingdom of God.

Nursery *

The nursery is a place where loving, and nurturing people can serve Christ by caring for our infants.  A nursery is available during the Sunday School hour as well as during the morning and evening worship services.

Children’s Department *

Jesus speaks about the importance of children in several areas of the Bible.  Teaching our young minds about God’s Word is crucial to their lives.  We have a Sunday School class each Sunday morning for kids of all ages.  During the morning worship service, we offer an extended session for preschool aged children.  “Awana” is our Wednesday evening program in which we teach our kids what the Bible says through music, activities and lessons.

Youth Ministry *

Our Youth ministry is called The Element. The Element meets every Sunday morning from 9:30-10:30 and Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:50. Our goal is to encourage and equip students in their walk with God, helping them to live a life style where their friends can see Christ through them.  Our desire is for students to grow deeply in love with the God of our universe and have a passion for sharing this with everyone they encounter!

Van Ministry

In order to allow people to worship our Creator, we offer a van ministry.  We have a team of people willing to use their time to honor God by helping transport people with transportation issues.  Our van runs every Sunday morning and every Wednesday evening. If you would like to ride the van please call the church office and let us know.

* It is required that all volunteers have attended FBC for a minimum of six months and pass a background check before they are allowed to serve in this capacity.

** To serve as usher it is required that all volunteers have a working knowledge of the church.
