Our Beliefs

The BIBLE is God’s perfect revelation of Himself to us.  There are no other writings that are “God Breathed”, so the Bible is our sole authority for doctrine and teaching.

SALVATION is the term we use to describe what happens when a person gives their life and soul to Jesus Christ.  Since all people have done wrong, all people need to come to Jesus for forgiveness and salvation.  This is a personal act between a person and God.  The church has no power to forgive or save.

BAPTISM is important because Jesus commanded us to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.  Baptism does not save, wash away sin or give the Holy Spirit.  It is an act of obedience and testimony of faith.

All believers receive the HOLY SPIRIT the moment they come to Christ.  The Holy Spirit leads, guides, and “gifts” each believer.  However, these “gifts” are never to draw attention to the believer but are given to point people to Jesus.

First Baptist Church gives 7% of its tithes to a MISSION SUPPORT system called the Cooperative Program.  Our Women’s Missionary Union is very active as they inform the church about mission work around the world.
